Experience camping in Uganda
Camping in Uganda
The best way to enjoy your experience is by choosing a camping trip in the wild. Rambling in the savanna is one of a kind when you talk of life in the wilderness; this goes with numerous highlights especially if you hire a 4-wheel drive camping jeep for a first-class memorable tour upcountry.
You will have a nice outdoor experience is by following the site rules and regulations especially if you go camping in Africa in various national parks with dangerous nocturnal wildlife. You are always recommended to stay inside your tents and also have them closed if you decide to have ground camping in particular at the time you choose to sleep.
On many occasions, visitors choose to take self-driving safaris to write their own memories in life, by far fetching a lot of surprises of which some may be positive and others negative but all of them contribute to the best-of-a-lifetime experience.
Just imagine fixing your standalone ground tent in the middle of nowhere only facing the bright galaxy, Mother Nature singing louder in silence with roars of the nocturnes.
This is extremely canning when you camp closer to rivers with an open campfire blazing with only wildlife eyes reflected, the rolling currents make it a beautiful vacation, especially for couples who may have decided to take a hideout from the exotic city life.
Uganda is such a wonderful destination for a perfect camping safari in the savannah, by its name the pearl of Africa, the country is all in one when it comes to jaw-dropping moments in the wild.
Let no one miss a chance to visit Uganda today. As of the beginning of January 2023 Uganda was listed by CNN as one of the best travel destinations amongst the 23 countries in Africa; therefore amongst the highlight on your what-to-do list in Uganda is visiting Murchison falls National Park also Uganda’s biggest national park with an area totaling to 3893km2, the park that is dissected by the mighty River Nile into two parts the north and the southern section, the river fixes its self in an 8-meter gorge to form thunderous roar making it the most powerful fall in the whole world. These were discovered by Sir Samuel White Baker who visited the falls in the mid-1860s under the British council that sent him to Africa during colonial times.
After Baker found these fall he named them after his boss by then Sir Roderick Murchison who was the head of the geology department at that time.
It is on these very beautiful tops of the falls that have that a gazette camping ground is located where campers have the sweet moments of speaking to nature in a roaring voice even in the wee hours.
You can also decide to camp on the southern side of the falls in Paraa or at the Delta on the shores of Albert Nile with fireplaces set as you enjoy African tells, all beautiful gazetted camping grounds are taken full control by Uganda Wild Authority which is Uganda’s Government agency responsible for the management and protection and control of Wildlife in and outside protected areas.
For the above, we have discussed Murchison Fall National Park but Uganda has 10 national parks and 14 wild reserves where all of which have secure camping grounds in case you dream of visiting Africa, please Uganda is the country where you belong.
Camping especially sleeping in manually set tents has not been very much taken as a priority in Uganda but it’s an amazing style that boosts up your experience on your trip. A few visitors who have chosen to go camping have a lot of stories to tell with priceless feelings.
I my self-enjoyed ground camping with friends in Ssese islands, one day when we decide to escape out of the city and find out places that would please us on our Easter holiday, we drove to Luzira one of the docking points on Lake Victoria, and boarded a ferry (Amani Erath wise) we sailed up to Ssese Islands in Kalangala district where we found our driver waiting for us to take us to Ssese Island beach, it is this beach that we had booked a 2 nights camping vacation, this was fun dear reader!
Imagine having endless looks from the showers of the lake as if there is no city noise anymore. It was daylight around 16:00hrs when we started fixing our tents in the ground with all the happiness from the group remember it’s a new activity for everyone there is a lot of excitement with the new environment.
The campfire was set closer to the barbecue stall and the grill was all roasting with delicious scents, different sets of drinks were served till dark with some silent music emitting, we wrote our names on the sandy ground with heart symbols as we sat on the showers of Victoria in the bright moonlight.
The eye is the greatest camera and the best storage memory being a human brain, I still recall everything that like it was yesterday. We eat tilapia like there is no tomorrow, swing was compulsory in that even if you dint know how to swim you would be drugged in the lake by the funny friends in the group.
This very night a storm came at with too much rain having some thunder strikes, it was a challenge to everyone, trust me it was like a military tactic train in phase one, those that had their tents not fixed well were brown down to the ground in the dark and others where licking, this forced us to share with others who had their tents fixed firmly; don’t forget we had couples in the group! Ha ha ha.
It was agony and ecstasy, but by the time we made it back home every one had a lot to tell with all the experiences we had on the short trip. Lesson number one was a scout’s ‘motto’ to be prepared in all situations when you go camping.
