3 Days Self Guided Queen Elizabeth National Park Tour

The three-day self guided tour in Uganda will make you visit one of the most popular national parks in Uganda, Queen Elizabeth national park. Queen Elizabeth national park is located in the western part of Uganda around Kasese area on the foothills of Mountain Rwenzori (the mountains of the moon). This is a historical national game reserve both in Uganda and around the world since it was visited by Queen Elizabeth II in 1954, the current Queen of United Kingdom. The National park is huge biodiversity area with so much flora and fauna to excite its visitors. Queen Elizabeth national park has over 95 mammal species in its savanah plains and over 500 species of birds flying in its skies and others are residents of its vegetation and waters. Tourists love it here because they have an opportunity to encounter animal species like the elephants, African buffaloes, hyena, antelopes, wild pigs and the tree climbing lions that are trekked at the Ishasha sector.

Detailed itinerary:

 Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
The big moment will start on this day; you will meet our driver to deliver the rental car.   You will go through the necessary car rental requirements.  After the car hire pickup procedure, you will drive westwards to Queen Elizabeth national park. On your way, you will make a stopover at the equator along Masaka road to observe the equator validating experiment and also take the photos on and near the monument. You will then proceed to Mbarara city where you will take a lunch break. Eventually, you will lead to queen Elizabeth national park area through Kasese road. When you enter Queen Elizabeth national park, you will have a short visit of the katwe salt mine site and then get to your lodge for a night.

Day 2: Queen Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat ride

At sun rise, you will have your breakfast and drive to Kasenyi plains. This is an area where most of the wildlife species reside from hence making it the best game drive track in Queen Elizabeth national park. While on the game drive, you are likely to see animals like the antelopes, buffaloes, hyenas, elephants, lions, elands, leopards, Uganda kobs and different bird species. The game drive will take about 3-4 hours and then get back to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will drive to Kazinga channel to catch the 2:00pm boat ride. While at the water cruise, you will encounter living species like hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, different water bird species and other big mammals like the elephants and buffaloes on the banks of the water. More to that is the sea bliss felt when the soothing and fresh winds from the waters blow around you. The Kazinga channel boat ride experience is such a magical experience!

Day 3:  Kyambura Chimpanzee trekking & Return to Kampala

This will be the last day of the self guided Queen Elizabeth national park safari tour, you will wake up early in the morning and go to Kyambura gorge, a tropical rainforest section at Queen Elizabeth national park for chimpanzee trekking. The experience here is leisurely compared to the one at Kibale forest though exciting. At the gorge, you will interact with the chimpanzees, one of your closest relative in the animal kingdom classification. You will watch them play as they relate among themselves. You will have a chance to see other different small primate species in the forest.
At the completion of your trek at Kyambura Gorge, you will drive back to the lodge for check out and travel to Kampala. You will make a stopover in Mbarara Town to have lunch and proceed with your journey up to the capital to drop off the rent vehicle.
